Outdoor & Architectural Lighting
When the venue is the outdoors, the outdoors needs a lighting designer.
Your Needs, Our Craft
Outdoor events live or die by light. The ceremony ends at golden hour, and then what? Great outdoor lighting design carries the event into the night: uplit trees that turn a garden into architecture, glowing façades, safely lit pathways, and layered depth that makes a property feel bigger and grander than it does by day.
We light estates, backyards, courtyards, rooftops, vineyards, and tents across Southern California. Our equipment is weather-rated and battery-capable, built for exactly this work.
Since 2017
Depth is the design
The instinct at outdoor events is to light where the guests are and let the rest go black, which makes even a grand estate feel like a small bright island in the dark. We do the opposite: uplight the trees behind the tent, wash the house, edge the garden. Guests read the whole property at once, and the event suddenly has scale.
It's also what makes photography possible after dark: backgrounds with depth and glow instead of black voids behind every portrait.
Power, weather, and other things you shouldn't have to think about
Outdoor lighting means distributed power, weather-rated connections, and equipment that keeps running if the marine layer rolls in. We handle generator coordination, battery fixtures for no-power corners of a property, and cabling that stays invisible and safe underfoot. You see the glow; we sweat the infrastructure.
Imagine walking into your venue and seeing exactly the room you pictured, only warmer, grander, and more alive.
That confidence is why planners, venues, and hosts across Southern California call Candlelight Designs, Inc., and why most of our work comes from referrals.
Outdoor & Architectural: Questions We Hear Often
Our property has very few outlets. Is that a problem?
No. Between battery-powered fixtures and quiet distributed power, we regularly light properties with no accessible power at all. It's a standard part of our site assessment.
What happens if it rains?
Our outdoor equipment is weather-rated and our crew is experienced with Southern California's surprises. We also build weather contingencies into the design for tented events. The show goes on.
Can you visit the property before quoting?
For full-property designs, yes. A brief site walk lets us plan power, rigging, and fixture counts precisely. For simpler setups, photos and a video walkthrough are usually enough to quote accurately.
